Marketing ROI Calculator
Measure the return on a campaign after delivery margin and marketing costs.
Formula and assumptions
ROI · Total marketing cost = Marketing spend + Additional campaign costs. Attributed gross profit = Attributed revenue × Gross margin (%) ÷ 100. Net return = Attributed revenue × Gross margin (%) ÷ 100 − Marketing spend − Additional campaign costs. Marketing ROI = (Attributed revenue × Gross margin (%) ÷ 100 − Marketing spend − Additional campaign costs) ÷ (Marketing spend + Additional campaign costs) × 100.
Use revenue attributed to the same campaign. ROAS measures revenue per ad unit spent, while ROI uses net return.

How to use this tool
Choose the relevant mode, enter Attributed revenue and complete the labelled fields. Use Calculate to review your result.
Worked example
Attributed revenue = 10000, Gross margin (%) = 60, Marketing spend = 2000, Additional campaign costs = 500.
Total marketing cost = 2,500.00 currency units · Attributed gross profit = 6,000.00 currency units · Net return = 3,500.00 currency units · Marketing ROI = 140.00%.
These example values are illustrative.
Interpreting the result
Use contribution after product delivery as the starting point. A high revenue-to-spend ratio can still produce a loss when fulfilment consumes most of the sale.
Assumptions and limitations
Use revenue attributed to the same campaign. ROAS measures revenue per ad unit spent, while ROI uses net return.
Can two campaigns with the same ROAS have different ROI?
Yes. A lower gross margin or higher non-ad campaign cost reduces profit even when ad revenue and spend match.
